Eat this. Do that. Blah blah blah. BORING.
Even though it doesn’t have to be January 1st to START, we might as well take advantage of the blank slate. The gyms are jam packed. Everyone is starting new diet plans. & for that I am glad! I am all for being healthy + active. But if it isn’t sustainable, then what good is it.
Rule #1: If it produces quick results, it isn’t sustainable
It isn’t feasible to cut out an entire food group or eat as few calories as your body can survive on. & for that reason, diet plans that follow such strict guidelines are nearly impossible to maintain.
The key to sustainable results (unfortunately) lies in slow progress. While results may not show overnight, it’s the journey that will make you mentally + physically stronger for life. & when the results begin to show, you will feel such a sense of accomplishment + confidence in what you are doing. It is this which will propel you to continue putting in the work.
Rule #2: Hard work produces results
Hard work, day in & day out, will produce results. Nothing comes easy in life, + this equally applies to the gym.
Whatever you do, give it your all.
Rule #3: Don’t waste your time
If you are going to spend the time in the gym, you might as well give it your all + make it effective.
Rule #4: Consistency rules
Be consistent in all that you do. More times than not, getting to the gym is the hardest part + building a consistent routine is much easier mentally & physically!
Rule #5: It’s always a good time to start
Starting is the hardest part + you definitely don’t need the first of the year or a Monday to start anything. Start right now.
Every day is made up of a sequence of decisions + you cannot let each decision influence the other. Didn’t eat the best meal for breakfast? Use lunch to get right back on track. Skipped your workout yesterday? You can’t go back & change that, so use today to get back into it.
A week from now, a year from now you will be so glad you did.
